Type of Wetlands
- Permanent wetlands: Which are always or nearly always flooded, are dominated by aquatic plants such as ribbon weed (Vallisneria species) and wavy marshwort (Nymphoides crenata).
Semi-permanent wetlands: Which are usually flooded every year, are characterised by sedges, rushes, spike-rushes, water couch, common reed, and herbs and forbs such as isotomes, primrose, nardoo and Ranuculus species.
Ephemeral wetlands: Which experience irregular flooding and long dry periods, have lignum (Muehlenbeckia cunninghamiana).
